Review THE ORDER ‘Out of Order’ – EP

Good things never come with a wrong timing. For The Order, a hard rock outfit from Switzerland, this good thing was the release of their ‘Supreme Hypocrisy’ album and the chart entry in Switzerland. The guys aren’t rookies in their home country and getting into the Top 30 is certainly a success. To celebrate this achievement together with fans a small tour was planned. And I guess I don’t need to finish the story since we know how it ends. The pandemic stopped the ambition.

As other bands realized too, it doesn’t help to give up. The Order decided to use the extra time to record some of their songs as acoustic versions and will release these five songs as an EP. ‘Out of Order’, that is the title of this record, which also could be the sign for the entire music industry in 2020 and early 2021.

Produced by the band and mixed and mastered by V.O. Pulver, the EP is an emotional release that transports a lot of feel through these acoustic songs. In a hectic and sometimes unreal seeming world, these five tracks are a musical oasis, a moment to take a deep breathe. This is also because The Order don’t arrange their songs as sugar-sweet (half-) ballads. There is still a certain level of roughness embedded and edges avoid the impression of a polished release. The spirit of rock’n’roll is still present, also due to the well-done vocals by Gianni Pontillo.

The Order couldn’t go on tour but used the time well. ‘Out of Order’ is a well-crafted musical intermezzo that hopefully bridges a no-live-shows-period that comes to an end rather soon.
