Live shows are the essence of any band, being in contact with their fans and having a good time togteher. One of the pioneers of Southern Rock, Molly Hatchet, is one of the protagonists of countless tours and concerts. The band enjoys being on the road and their fan are happy with listening to well-crafted Rock music in the dynamic atmosphere of a live show.
To capture the moment and the vibe, Molly Hatchet releases a live album end November, an 19 songs compilation of excellent songs taken from more than four decades of Rock music.
The album was recorded at several places. Pratteln (Switzerland, Ludwigsburg (Germany) and concerts of the 40th anniversary tour in the US are the base for this release.
With songs like ‘Bounty Hunter’ the band takes fans back to a time when the debut was released. ‘Molly Hatchet’ saw the light of day in 1978 and two songs of the debut keep this starting moment alive.
The more recent days are reflected by songs from the ‘Justice’ album, released in 2010, which is e.g. represented by the title track and even the ‘The Allman Brothers Band cover of ‘Dreams I’ll Never See’, taken from the ‘Regrinding the Axes’ record, has been performed on stage and recorded for this release.
All in all we can conclude that ‘Battleground’ is a rich live album, showcasing the bands history from start to the here & now. Not more, but certainly also not less.
