Review ETERNAL EVIL “Forever Feared”

Some German thrash metal certainly set the standard for various bands, and Swedish thrashers Eternal Evil are one of them. Founded in 2019, the band is launching their newest album, “Forever Feared”, which is their third full-length release. Hailing from Stockholm, the band delivers raging thrash metal with references to bands such as Kreator, Paradox, and Destruction.

While listening to up-tempo songs like “Eyes of Wrath”, it’s clear that the four-piece doesn’t shy away from a fast pace. Despite the increased tempo, Eternal Evil still plays with a high level of precision, making this song, with its blistering leads, a real headbanger.

“A Soul to Cope” is a furious thrash metal smasher with Kreator influences, as well as nods to traditional heavy metal. The title track features an Iron Maiden-inspired intro before hell breaks loose again. After a ferocious section, the song takes an unexpected twist. Alternating between furious thrash metal and gothic rock-like moments, the song adds an unexpected edge to the album.

Raw riff power is delivered by “Triumph Through Pain”. This blistering metal track has the energy of a speed train, and is followed by the rather calm ‘Stain of Roses’, which adds another layer to the album. The song gains power in the second half, yet remains a nice counterpart to the furious thrash metal outbursts on the album. Atmospheric and more traditional metal are the inspiration for”Stain of Roses”, which leaps over to the beginning of “Mountain Gaze”. The latter is a strong display of the band’s musical versatility. From a calm start to an up-tempo section, “Mountain Gaze” shows it all.

“I Know, The Fire Burns Inside” is the closing track on an album brimming with energy and power. It is a raw, untamed metal record that will put your neck muscles to the test. Eternal Evil has added an impressive chapter to its young history and their passion for heavy metal resonates through each note of this album.
