It was in April this years when a band released an EP that cane right in time for the Roadburn festival. Gott is a quintet from The Netherlands, featuring well know musicians. Farida Lemouchi ( Molassess, The Devil’s Blood) , Twan van Geel (Soulburn, Legion of the Damned) , Thijs van Laarhoven (Severe Torture, William van der Voort (Ggu:ll, Dodecahedron) , Dave van Beek (Ggu:ll) and Joep Schmitz (Radar Men from the Moon), these are the guys shaping the line-up of Gott.
As not expected much different, the band is very much into dark heavy rock on a high level. ‘To Hell to Zion’ is the title of their first release after having launched a 7″ back in 2019. Each of the tunes on this mini-album shows the passion and musical skills of the involved musicians, all become apparent with the opener ‘The Colour Empty’. With the signature voice of Lemouchi, the song crawls out of the speakers with authority. Doom Metal and an essence of Gothic is what comes with this first tune on the album. both being accompanied by a melancholic mood.
‘To Hell to Zion’ is a release that showcases some experts at work. With dedication, Gott crafted an EP that excites through the beauty of darkness and wistfulness. Great stuff from The Netherlands; and now also on vinyl.
