Review WARNING ‘Watching from a Distance – Live at Roadburn’

Warning’s ‘Watching from a Distance – Live at Roadburn’ is the first physical release from Cappio Records and is a next album for the band, following a row of compilation since 2011.

Warning is a doom metal band, hailing from the UK. The trio started in 1994 and haven’t unveiled more than two studio albums until now. The band went through different eras, interrupted by breaks and hiatus periods. In 2016, the current phase started and it was in 2017 when the epic doom band performed a show at legendary Roadburn festival in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

In the meantime having grown to a quartet, the guys cruised through a five songs setlist which they presented to the crowd in the big room of the 013 venue. Looking at the title gives an indication of where the songs are coming from. It’s the entire sophomore album that was played that night, bringing the fog of doom into the venue.

The concert was recorded at the time and will be available now, being a delight for doom metal fans and a great remembrance for Roadburn visitors. With an artwork, reminding of the studio album, 54 minutes of slow riffs, dark vibes and organic sound are captured on a record that shows the beauty of gloom.
