Legendary Pretty Maids frontman Ronnie Atkins was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and after some positive signals, cancer returned in October 2020. But Atkins is a fighter and doesn’t give up easily. The 2021 longplayer ‘One Shot’ with its stellar songs is a clear indication of the singer still being connected to his passion and big love – music.
A few months later, the Danish singer has a new EP in the starting blocks. ‘4 More Shots’ is an acoustic release that features five songs of which ‘Carry Me Over’ is in many aspects the most important one. Atkins wrote this tune right after having been told that cancer returned. It was a dramatic message and the singer hit rock bottom. In this hopeless and frustrating period, Atkins wrote ‘Carry Me Over’, which is an emotionally touching song. This song is certainly a highlight in Atkins’ rich musical history, although a very melancholic one.
Next to ‘Carry Me Over’, four more songs have been recorded for ‘4 More Shots’. ‘When Dreams are Not Enough’, ‘Picture Yourself’ and ‘Real’ are presented in an acoustic version which brings Atkins’ voice to forefront as well as there is a new spirit with each of the three songs.
Last but not least there is with ‘One Shot’ an orchestra version of the title track from the latest longplayer on this release too.
‘4 More Shots’ is an emotional record that carries much more weight than solely music. It is a musical offer that includes a lot of emotions and feel. It’s an emotional roller coaster that expresses a lot of what the Danish singer goes through, emotionally and physical in his battle against cancer. Stay strong Ronnie Atkins.
