CD review POTENTIAL TGREAT SF ‘Threat to Society’

(7/10) Potential Threat SF belongs to the forerunners of Thrash Metal with a foundation date in 1986. Hailing from San Francisco that guys are very familiar with the Bay Area sound, but it has been bands like Metallica, Slayer and others that got the spotlight and left Potential Threat SF in the shadows. A few demos was what was released at the time and it happened many years later that the four-piece band premiered.

2009 was the year “A New Threat Level’ hit the shelves and from then on the guys release longplayers on a more or less regular base. The sophomore ‘Civilization Under Threat’ followed in 2013 and another six years later it’s ‘Threat to Society’ that spreads some Thrash Metal.

Potential Threat SF, that’s the founding members Kenny Noble and Mike Noble, together with Death Angel’s Damien Sisson and Daniel Sheridan. The third album of this quartet comprises of ten Thrash Metal anthems and one intro. Already with song number one (‘Warmachine’ is the intro), ‘Path of the War Machine’ it’s clear for listeners what to expect. Potential Threat SF’s sound is deeply rooted in the Bay Area vibe of the ’80s and reminds of bands like Death Angel in general and Exodus in particular.

‘Threat to Society’ revitalises a sound that’s retro. It brings back memories of a time when bands like Metallica played real metal. ‘Threat to Society’ is for sure no ‘threat for your ears’. Worth to check it out.
