Today marks the release of legendary guitarist Tony Iommi’s brand-new single. Titled “Stormwatcher,” it is driven by a signature guitar riff from the man who was the driving musical force behind Black Sabbath’s celebrated career.
“Stormwatcher” has a nautical theme and tells the story of a ship stranded in a storm. The song is accompanied by a dramatic, animated video that brings the lyrics and imagery of singer Jørn Lande to life. “It channels something from within, something real,” explains Lande. The lyrics tell a powerful story of struggles and grief as life takes its course from birth to death and beyond. “We are the captain of our own ship—a ship that cuts through unknown and sometimes challenging waters, navigating ever further and staying on a safe course through every storm, driven by dreams of new horizons and the longing for something new.”
