The Black Dahlia Murder was formed in 2001 in Waterford, Michigan, and is considered one of the most critically acclaimed and consistent bands in American extreme metal. They have been signed to Metal Blade Records since their debut album, Unhallowed (2003). The band has released ten studio albums—eight of which made it onto the US Billboard 200 charts, with 2011’s Ritual peaking at No. 31—and has built an extremely loyal global fan base through tireless touring and an unwavering commitment to their music.
To mark the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking third album, Nocturnal, the band is placing this still-impressive metal masterpiece at the center of their live shows.
Multiple headlining appearances on the “Summer Slaughter Tour,” performances at Wacken Open Air, Graspop Metal Meeting, Louder Than Life, Ozzfest, and the Warped Tour, as well as accolades such as Metal Hammer’s “Golden Gods Award” for Best Underground Band, define a career marked by consistency, passion, and artistic growth. Their tenth album, Servitude (September 2024), heralds a powerful new era, led by co-founder Brian Eschbach, who took over as lead singer following the death of beloved co-founder Trevor Strnad in 2022.
With acclaimed guitarist Wes Hauch—who originally joined as a temporary live replacement following Brandon Ellis’s departure in early 2025 and has been a permanent member ever since—The Black Dahlia Murder continues to build on a legacy that remains as vibrant and uncompromising as ever.
