Review ROBIN BECK “Living Proof”

For many people, the name Robin Beck is closely connected to “First Time” The song, which was used in a Coca-Cola advert, was the big breakthrough for the singer, who was born in New York City. It also boosted the success of the “Trouble or Nothin'” album, which became very commercially successful in Europe.

Although the singer released a few more albums, she never achieved the same level of success as with “Trouble or Nothin’”, and the question remains whether her latest studio album, “Living Proof”, will connect with her early releases. The new album features ten songs, all positioned somewhere between rock and AOR, with the title track opening the album. “Living Proof” is a vibrant rock song with a pounding beat that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Next up is the rocking tune “Love and Money”, which has a bit of an edge to it. This heavier moment is balanced by songs like “What a Night”. The latter is an emotional power ballad, perfect for radio airplay. It offers a glimpse back to the ’80s, combining emotional intensity with dynamism.

“Never Gonna Let You Go” follows a similar principle to “What a Night”, staying more within the emotional framework of touching the heart. “Na Na Na” brings back the rocking guitar riff, while “Voodoo” unveils a special vibe with a funky swing. “Let It Rain” marks the album’s finale and is another classic Robin Beck song that fuses an emotional aspect with a memorable hook and a rocking vibe.

“Living Proof” is a solid rock album that is both fun and entertaining. A powerful and soul-pleasing release, it makes the colours of spring shine brighter, while the iconic “Trouble and Nothin'” remains untouched. “Living Proof” is good music for a bright summer.
