THE NEPTUNE POWER FEDERATION – new album and new video

The Neptune Power Federation returns with their 7th album, a raucous foray into the depths of the dirtiest clubs from Down Under! Wilder, weirder… “Mondo Tomorrow”!

The incomparable Australian rock outfit channels punk rock energy into a foreboding tale about the all-consuming nature of technology on “Mondo Tomorrow”.

“Time travels both ways.” It’s a powerful one-liner from The Neptune Power Federation guitarist Inverted CruciFox on the thematic elements that comprise the band’s newest studio effort, “Mondo Tomorrow”. After multiple albums detailing the adventures of frontwoman the Imperial Priestess (a.k.a. Screaming Loz Such)—from the French Revolution, Black Plague, Judas Priest concert parking lots and the love-soaked 1970s—the band is now taking a long, hard look at the perils of technology while bringing back their punk rock roots.

Indeed, cuts such as the title track, “Mind Controller” and “Cybernetic Times” are told through a retro-futurist lens that depicts a world under the grip of those in charge with unlimited technological power. The songs are brought to life by the aforementioned Imperial Priestess’s charismatic, infectious vocals—capable of delivering soaring choruses and gritty, down-in-the-dirt volleys. All the while, her bandmates bring the house down with an array of hook-filled, straightforward, true, hard rock riffs, namely on “Living in the Gutter” and “Rhapsody in Blue“.

Recorded by bassist Jaytanic Ritual at the band’s spiritual home of the Pet Food Factory in Marrickville, Sydney, “Mondo Tomorrow” was mixed by the notable Lachlan Mitchell, whose previous credits include The Vines and The Hard Ons. (Mitchell is also a member of the black metal outfit, Nazxul.) It is an album as sonically rich as anything in The Neptune Power Federation’s growing discography – broad, spacious, yet still firmly rooted in the core principles of pure rock and roll.
