Review KLAW “Gods and Creators”

Switzerland has a pretty vibrant rock & metal scene with bands like Krokus and Gotthard, but also Triptykon and gurD originate from the Alpine country in the middle of Europe. A rather young band is Klaw from Zurich.

The guys started in 2017 and delivered their debut album “LightCrusher” in 2019. The band’s first effort brought them to the attention of El Puerto Records. The southern German label signed the Swiss thrash metal band and with “Gods and Creators” the second album is waiting around the corner.
Klaw recorded the new material at Little Creek Studios and V.O. Pulver produced the album in collaboration with the band. Such a combination of forces means that we don’t have to worry about the sound and indeed, “Gods and Creators” sounds tight and powerful.

Musically, the band plays thrash metal inspired by the Bay Area sound and some German thrash metal forces like Destruction and Sodom. The title track even reveals some Arch Enemy influences, making the whole blend an energetic blast.

Klaw isn’t afraid to use some samples like the funfair intro to the hard hitting “Carousel Of Flames”.
“Pictures Of My Past” is a blasting thrash metal track, while “Senseless” comes with a slower riff that creeps into your mind. The latter is a dark and evil riff-driven tune that shows Klaw having a broader approach than just pushing the pedal to the metal.

To conclude: “Gods and Creators” is a solid and well done thrash metal album. The five guys from Zurich may not have reinvented the thrash metal wheel. But what their second effort stands for is passionate thrash metal with a well produced sound. Headbanging is guaranteed.
