First two ASSASSIN albums re-released today

Assassin from Dusseldorf, Germany released their debut album ‘The Upcoming Terror’ in 1987 and their sophomore effort ‘Interstellar Experience’ hit the shelves one year later. Both albums reflect the vibrant metal underground in Germany at the time. Inspired by the first wave of German thrash metal bands, several new bands entered the scene in the late 80’s and Assassin was one of these yound and shining stars.

‘The Upcoming Terror’ features wild and raw thrash metal. It is the untamed energy of youth that echoes through each song. The album contains roaring thrash metal songs that have been given a fierce but well-rounded sound by none other than Kalle Trapp, who has also worked with bands such as Destruction and Blind Guardian.

One year later the second album ‘Interstellar Experience’ helped the band to strengthen their fan base. This time with Harris Johns at the helm, the album represents the band’s next step. Already the breathtakingly fast opener ‘Abstract War’ is a blast and the fact that Assassin could convince members of Kreator, Destruction, Sodom and Deathrow for a guest appearance on ‘Abstract War’ and ‘AGD’ shows the status of the Düsseldorf metal maniacs. Assassin also added more hardcore elements to the sound and the album is faster than what the fans got on the debut.

Unfortunately, Assassin split up in 1989 and the reason was simple and sad at the same time. The band’s equipment was stolen and as there wasn’t enough money to buy new stuff, things came to an end much too early.

High Roller Records will reissue both albums on vinyl, CD and tape. Both albums have been mastered by Patrick W. Engel and fans of Teutonic Thrash Metal have the chance to fill a potential gap in their metal collection.
