MDXX is still relatively unknown and also surrounded by a cloak of mystery. What we do know is that MDXX consists of four musicians who call themselves V, T, C and A. The musical head of the band is V. V is the musical head of the band and is responsible for both music and lyrics.

It is also known that the guys hail from northern Sweden and present their self-titled debut album these days.
In total there are eight songs on this album, rooted in traditional heavy metal, with doomy and epic moments. Connections to the 80s can’t be denied.
Moodwise the album stands on ‘mel-‘ pillars – melancholic and melodic. These two elements characterize the tracks of this release and make each of the tunes a well-crafted metal track.
Once it gets melodic, I have to think of bands like Ghost a few times. It is mainly the catchiness and partly the vocal lines / intonation that make such a comparison come up. At the same time MDXX is far away from the very mainstream oriented approach of Ghost.
You should definitely listen to the throbbing ‘Oblivion’ which will put every headbanger in delight. Also the doom-based ‘Submission’ has its charm, while ‘Enforcer’ comes around the corner with decent breaks.
What puts a slight downer on the listening enjoyment is that MDXX remains the same to a certain basic pattern. Even if the songs have twists, it’s mainly the vocals that have little highs and lows. Everything remains too much caught in a tight pattern, which can be tiring in the long run.
Should MDXX manage to give the vocals more dynamics and variety, then it could be that we will hear more from the four guys in the future. ‘MDXX’ is interesting in any case.
