Svart Records released today the 40th anniversary edition of the second Hanoi Rocks album, called ‘Oriental Beat’. The original was recorded in London in January 1982 and since the debut album was only released in Sweden and Finland, it was this record that paved the way for the band’s international success.
It was in the heyday of British Punk and New Wave that the Finns set to work and it was the sound of the album that did not satisfy the band from the beginning.
Now the record comes as a ‘re(al)mix’ and vocalist Michael Monroe calls this release “the longest and slowest album recording project ever,” stating that “40 years in the making, it’s not just a remix, but the REAL MIX supervised and approved by Hanoi Rocks”.
