Review CRYSTAL VIPER ‘The Last Axeman’ – EP

Crystal Viper fans know it. ‘The Last Axeman’ is a compilation album by the Polish metal passionists that was released in 2008. The record included some songs from the debut and some cover version of metal classics from Manilla Road and others.

2022 is the revival of ‘The Last Axeman’. With having the original idea for the album in the back of their minds, the band recorded a 2022 version of the title track and added some additional song to this EP. There are with ‘Ulitsa Roz’ (Aria) and ‘It’s Electric’ (Diamond Head) two cover songs on this release as well as there are four songs, recorded live in the studio. These four songs are all from ‘The Cult’ album, the band’s latest studio release while ‘In the Haunted Chapel’ represents the one and only new song on this release.

‘The Last Axeman’ doesn’t bring a lot of new to the plate. The EP is more of a goodie for collectors and Crystal Viper fans who need to have everything the band released in their cabinet too. ‘The Last Axeman’ features certainly good music but could have included a few more new songs too.
