Review VICIOUS KNIGHTS ‘Alternation Through Possession’

What arrives from Greece on January 28th is dark and heavy. Vicious Knights from Thessaloniki have finished their debut album ‘Alternation Through Possession’ and will share it with the metal community. What you can expect is music that is raw and wild.

Vicious Knights started in 2016 and thus are a relatively young band. After a demo and an EP, the guys managed to catch the attention of Dying Victims Productions. After agreeing on a deal, the way was paved for a first full-length album, which will be in record stores and online stores by the end of January.

The Greek trio is completely focused on unbridled trash metal which is enriched with a dose of death metal. After the intro ‘Infestation’ has faded away, the guys start right away with ‘From Nothingness to a Slave of Darkness’. A malevolent scream opens the album and what follows is straightforward and powerful metal that completely dispenses with twists and turns and surprises. Instead you get on ‘ Alternation Through Possession ‘ the pure essence of thrash / death metal offered. A pounding beat, raspy vocals and a furious pace is what characterizes this disc from Greece.

Songs like ‘They Cast No Shadow’ and the speedy ‘Vicious Knights’ are merciless riff assaults that reflect the elemental force of this genre extremely well.

Overall, it can be stated that ‘Alternation Through Possession’ is a raw diamond. Vicious Knights focus on uncompromisingness and harshness, both good prerequisites for a good record. Together with the enthusiasm of a hungry and young band a good debut album is accomplished and one can be curious if the band will be able to continue this way with their next record.
