Review GOATFATHER ‘Monster Truck’

‘Monster Truck’ is the title of the new Goatfather album and as far as the load is concerned, there are eight heavy rock tracks brought to the fanbase with care here. Heavy riffs, down tuned guitars and a slow but merciless rhythm section are key when it comes to album and sound.

The French heavy rockers had dropped their debut album with ‘Hipster Fister’ in 2016. Five years later, the trucks are rolling again to bring the second album to the record stores and how could it be different, it starts with a meaningful song called ‘Convey’. Spoken words are the first thing the listener gets delivered before the band turns the ignition key and starts the powerful stoner rock engine with a first mighty riff. With expertise and steadiness ‘Monster Truck’ rolls through the desert heat, manifesting in tunes like the felicitous title track.

The band has saved the longest leg of this trip for the finish. With ‘Shelter’ Goatfather have put a 12 minute opus at the end of their sophomore record. In a way, the tune is a successful summary of everything you’ve heard so far and even if the final lap is the longest, ‘Monster Truck’ still has enough power in the tank to cope with this part of the journey with authority.

Goatfather deliver with ‘Monster Truck’ a very pleasant second album that is not only to be recommended to fans of the typical desert sound.
