Review RHAPSODY OF FIRE ‘I’ll Be Your Hero’ – EP

Italian metallers Rhapsody Of Fire released their latest album ‘The Eighth Mountain’ in 2019. To bridge the waiting time for the next full-length longplayer, the symphonic metal powerhouse decided to release an EP that is available since a few days.

‘I’ll Be Your Hero’ is the precursor of the new album and features a new song of the same title. Although being a new song, the trademarks of Rhapsody Of Fire are still intact. Melodies, catchy hooks, and bigger soundscapes are the key elements of the Italian quintet and the new song includes it all. A bit of a neo-classic spice is added to the dish too and fans of the band will certainly appreciate what they get offered.

It’s a bit unfortunate that the title track is the only new song on this EP. The other seven songs are more interesting for fans and collector, just thinking about the four versions of ‘The Wind, The Rain and the Moon’, three of them in different languages. Next to this language exercise the release features with ‘Where Dragons Fly’ a Japan bonus track plus two live recordings, captured on ‘The Eighth Mountain’-tour. The latter are the real powerful moments, reflecting the live spirit of a Rhapsody Of Fire show.

‘I’ll Be Your Hero’ is an in-between release that brings some joy to fans of the band. This EP can act as an appetizer for more and 1-2 additional new songs would have been a bad thing either.
