CD review SAINTS OF DEATH ‘Ascend to the Throne’

Saints Of Death are from Vancouver, Canada and are musically focused on a mixture of Thrash and Death Metal. In combination with an electric groove, especially fans of bands like Arch Enemy and Pantera should keep on reading. Not that Saints Of Death could already compete with these bands, but they work on similar musical fields and the Canadians don’t do it in a bad way.

When the musical journey of Saints Of Death began cannot be dated exactly. What is certain though is that a self-titled EP was released in 2015. Five years later, the full-length debut is announced, whereby ‘full-length’ is a bit of an exaggeration considering that there is less than 30 minutes playing time.

But ‘Ascend to the Throne’ knows to please musically. Even if you don’t get too many songs offered by the quartet, what is served is at least appealing. While most of the songs are in a three minute frame, it is ‘Repentance’ and ‘Soldiers of Metal’ that stand out. Both five minute tracks are well-crafted Metal songs that invite you to do some solid headbanging.

All in all you can say that ‘Ascend to thge Throne’ is worth listening to. The four Canadians won’t revolutionize the music world, but the new album is still worth listening to and next time please record 2-3 more songs.
