Madhouse from Hamburg are a metal band which was already active in the late ’80s. However, you can’t find more than a few demos and local achievements in the metal archives with the year of 1991 being the definite end. It got quiet in madhouse.
23 years later the door to the madhouse was opened again to start new musical activities. And see, more than three decades after the founding of the band a debut album called ‘March or Die’ followed. Obviously the band has decided to go for the first one, ‘March’, because with ‘Braindead’ the successor is now right in the starting blocks.
The second album contains eleven songs that can be described as typical teutonic heavy metal. Sometimes a bit of Helloween can be heard through and sometimes it’s Rock’n’Rolf’s Running Wild that has left an impact. And with ‘Who Made You God’ the five guys also let a bit of a thrash metal breeze blow into their sails.
All in all, ‘Braindead’ is an entertaining metal album that has a good flow and is easy to listen to. Featuring a good sound, the record is certainly the best the band has produced so far and maybe they are now catching up on what they missed in the 80’s.
