CD review THE GREAT LIE ‘Defying Extinction’

Six songs, 13 minutes – that’s hardcore and that’s the newest release of Long Island, NY-based The Great Lie.

Nearly two years after having released an EP entitled ‘All Roads Lead to Where You Stand’ the quintet returns with ‘Defying Extinction’. The six tracks on this EP are like musical twisters and there is not a stone left standing after the last note of the grooving ‘The New Reich’ fades away. These tracks are statements, ignited and amplified by the current political, social and environmental situation we’re all living in these days.

The Great Lie release the musical brakes with the opener ‘A Game of Horseshows’, a massive hardcore hymn without any compromises and frills. Tempo increases heavily with ‘This is Bullshit’, a raging song and a musical blast. These songs are exemplary for the entire EP with songs being raw and aggressive.

‘Defying Extinction’ is a release that lives from his boundless energy, its rage and authenticity. This EP carries music from the street for the street.
