CD review EDGE OF FOREVER ‘Native Soul’

Edge Of Forever was formed in 2002 by Alessandro Del Vecchio, a guy we know from many releases of Frontiers Music bands/projects. The producer, singer and keyboarder was involved in records of no less than Jorn, Harem Scarem and House Of Lordsto mention just a few.

For Edge Of Forever Del Vecchio teamed up with bass player Nik Mazzucconi (Labyrinth), guitarist Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere) and drummer Marco Di Salvia (Hardline) to work on ‘Native Soul’, the latter two being the new forces in the line-up.

The quartet worked on ‘Native Soul’ , an album that ends a 10 years waiting time. 11 songs is what you get with this album, featuring music that is very well produced. With Del Vecchio being involved guarantees a powerful, dense and bombastic sound, which is certainly a big benefit of ‘Native Soul’.

Edge Of Forever’s fourth album carries Melodic Rock that never gets too sugarcoated. Although keyboards support a musical density . Furthermore it’s a great hammond sound in ‘I Made Myself What I Am’ that adds warmth, it is a rocking guitar that ensures a Rock’n’Roll spirit from start to end. While listeneing to the album I had to think about the rocking songs of Gotthard and also Pretty Maids came to my mind.

All in all I have to say that ‘Native Soul’ is better than what I expected. Fans of well-crafted Melodic Rock should give this album a chance.
