Shit The Cow is a regular deliverer of new records. Was it in the beginning more four-track EP‘s the quartet started to work on full-length albums that lately saw the light of day.
‚Stoner Ghost‘ is the newest addition to Shit The Cow‘s discography and it‘s again filled with some surprises.
The opener ‚Doctor Doctor‘ is one of them. The song has an ease and gentle swing, at least in the first 2/3 of the song. These sounds aren‘t standard for a band that has s Stoner-/Garage-/Punk Rock background. The second half of the opener though breaks the pattern and shows the band in full steam. Back to what we know from the past.
What works very well too are the female vocals the Swedes added to some of their songs. Shit The Cows don‘t care about conventions and trends. The band sticks to their roots. They fine-tune rather than innovate their sound, reflected in a better songwriting being the base for cool Rock songs of which the uptempo ‚Henchman‘ is one of. ‚Zombie Queen is another tune you shouldn‘t miss. It‘s the almost arrogant factor of coolness that makes the song to an irresistible highlight on ‚Stoner Ghost‘.
If you haven‘t listened to Shit The Cow yet you should take the new album as a good reason to adjust. Otherwise you miss pretty cool stuff.
