In case you’re looking for an album that amplifies your autumn blues I can certainly recommend to listen to Esoteric’s new longplayer. The UK-based Doom outfit celebrates again darkness and grief, this time on ‘A Pyrrhic Existence’, their seventh full-length album.
‘A Pyrrhic Existence’ ends an eight years break and almost as a compensation for the long waiting time the new release is a double CD package. Six songs and 98 minutes running time doesn’t bring any light into the autumnally darkness. Esoteric’s Funeral Doom is a not made for getting happy and to party on. These six extra long songs are the morbid and melancholic soundtrack to a season of grayness, fog and rain.
‘A Pyrrhic Existence’ is intense, it’s dark and merciless. It’s a ruthless piece of work that gives you the shivers. Take the challenge.
