When it comes to bands like Motörhead, with their decades-long and remarkable history in rock and metal, everyone has what you could call an entry-point album. It’s the record that blew you away and sparked an unbreakable connection with a band and its music. In my case, I’m part of the Ace of Spades generation.
However, there’s another album that comes pretty close in terms of importance: Orgasmatron, released in 1986 and featuring its now-iconic title track.
What often gets overlooked, though, is that the album has plenty of other great songs, including “Deaf Forever,” “Claw,” and “Doctor Rock.” Four decades after its original release, the record hasn’t lost any of its appeal. In fact, Orgasmatron is packed with timeless Motörhead classics that still hold up today.
Today sees the release of the 40th Anniversary Edition, which includes not only the original album, remastered and cut using the half-speed mastering process, but also a remastered and newly mixed version by Cameron Webb. As usual with anniversary editions, the package is rounded out with rehearsal recordings, outtakes, and studio sessions, offering additional insight into the making of this classic record.
