Hamburg-based Ophis return five years after their magnificent album Spew Forth Odium with their sixth studio album. The new record was recorded in spring 2026 at 3RD A. Studio in Holm and produced, mixed and mastered by Jens Ballaschke. The cover artwork was created by drummer Ole Fink himself.
You often read statements like: “With this album, they have surpassed everything they have done before.” And quite often, there isn’t much truth to that. BUT with their new album, Encased In Deathlike Layers, this four-piece doom institution has actually managed to take things to another level.
Six new songs, clocking in at almost one hour, musically capturing all the misery, suffering and helplessness, but also the power and strength of this world in absolutely perfect fashion. Encased In Deathlike Layers is a musical journey into the abysses within each and every one of us, a doom metal masterpiece and one of the major highlights of autumn 2026.
The album will be released on November 27th, 2026 via FDA Records.
