Review TYGERS OF PAN TANG “Electrifyed”

I was ten years old when Tygers Of Pan Tang released their debut album, Wild Cat. So forgive me for discovering the band’s back catalog a little later in life. Today, though, we’re less interested in looking back and more concerned with what the Tygers are up to right now.

With Robb Weir, only one of the founding members remains in the lineup, and he has teamed up with his bandmates for another studio album. Electrifyed is the band’s fourteenth full-length, and it shows why Tygers Of Pan Tang can still get metal fans fired up.

Three years after Bloodlines, Tygers Of Pan Tang haven’t lost any of their punch. Electrifyed is a straight-ahead metal record rooted in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, but Weir and company have managed to preserve the band’s trademark sound without getting trapped by their own history. Naturally, Tygers Of Pan Tang still play traditional heavy metal – that’s what the fans came for. The good news is that the band manages to make it sound current, carrying its signature style into 2026 without it feeling worn out.

“Rise Up!” opens the album and immediately lays out the game plan. An atmospheric intro gives way to a stomping headbanger, turning the track into a musical energy boost. Play this one first thing in the morning and you might be able to skip the coffee. Maybe.

Electrifyed has plenty of rawness and heaviness, as tracks such as “Forevermore” and “The Fight Goes On” make clear. But the band doesn’t keep its foot permanently planted on the gas. “The Nail” takes a slower, almost doom-tinged approach, using its steady pulse to create a hypnotic groove.

One of the tracks that immediately grabs the ear is “Dark Divinity.” It’s one of the album’s darker moments, but its infectious groove turns it into an unexpected earworm. The bridge deserves special attention, too, adding another layer to a song that sticks around long after it’s over.

The title track takes a similar approach. A dark atmosphere runs throughout the song, supported by a narrative-style intro before the main riff kicks in. From there, “Electrifyed” develops into a classic metal anthem and a fitting title track for the album.

Tygers Of Pan Tang are among the pioneers of British heavy metal, and in 2026 they still know how to deliver the goods. Electrifyed combines experience with genuine enthusiasm, and that makes the album a pleasure to play from start to finish. Drop the needle almost anywhere and you’ll find well-crafted metal waiting on the other side.

Tygers Of Pan Tang prove once again that heavy metal has very little to do with age. It’s a mindset, an attitude, and a willingness to keep the fire burning. On Electrifyed, the Tygers Of Pan Tang show they still have plenty of both. The Tygers are still roaring loudly.
