American singer John Corabi has a rich musical history. He was part of Mötley Crüe, founded Union with Bruce Kulick, and is known for his work with The Dead Daisies.
Corabi has also worked on several solo projects, with the latest due to be released soon. Entitled “New Day” and inspired by the music of the ’60s and ’70s, the album features twelve songs. This is his debut full-length album, showcasing Corabi’s passion for classic rock and blues.
The first song that fans heard from the album was “Così Bella”. This lead single was released in 2021, followed by ‘Your Own Worst Enemy’. Both tracks are included on the album, showcasing the range of Corabi’s musical endeavours. “Cosi’ Bella” is an upbeat rock song. Its driving rhythm and catchy melody make it a light-hearted tune. The title, ‘Cosi’ Bella’, means ‘so beautiful’, which is exactly the vibe the song evokes.
In contrast, “Your Own Worst Enemy” is darker and more melancholic. It is a blues-infused rock song with a funky twist. The title track, “New Day” kicks off the album and is a vivid rock song that fosters a positive mindset. New days offer new chances, and listening to this tune automatically puts one in a good mood.
“That Memory” is a straightforward rock song with 70s influences, before “Faith, Hope and Love” adds a melancholic edge to the album. This soulful song can be described as a ballad, but it is much more than a clichéd tear-jerker. “Faith, Hope and Love” is touching and has a level of depth, which is also due to Corabi’s emotional vocals.
“1969” is an homage to a time when rock music was at its peak. It’s a nostalgic rock song that transports you to the “Laurel”. The latter is fuelled by a wistful vibe, and the album provides emotional depth throughout, whether you’re listening to the upbeat rockers or the touching moments. This is due to Corabi’s emotional singing and his distinctive voice. These qualities give each of the tunes a personal and very authentic feel, adding to the positive impression of “New Day” as a whole.
John Corabi’s stunning debut album sees rock, blues and soul come together. Taking inspiration from the 1970s, the singer has created an album that builds on the golden era of rock ‘n’ roll. Corabi adds his own twists to the mix, giving “New Day” a unique feel while paying homage to the heyday of rock music. This album comes straight from the heart.
