In 2025, Gotthard released their latest full-length album, “Stereo Crush”, and the album session also included the recording of some songs that didn’t end up on the album. With “More Stereo Crush”, the Swiss rock band unveils a few of these songs.
This eight-track EP features five new songs from the mentioned session, as well as a radio edit of “Burning Bridges” and a duet version of “Liverpool”. Nic Maeder shares vocals on “Liverpool” with Krokus frontman Marc Storace, bringing another dimension to the song.
The new songs in particular showcase a band that still knows how to rock. The pulsating opener, “Right Now”, gets the album off to a flying start, and “Ride the Wave” truly unveils the band’s rock roots. Gotthard sometimes drift too far into commercial mainstream territory, but with some of these songs, the band show that they can still direct their musical approach towards hard rock. There is no doubt that this EP also features tear-jerking moments, and “Smiling in the Pouring Rain” is one of them. This well-crafted, soulful ballad is followed by the more exciting “Snafu”, which represents the highlight of “More Stereo Crush”. “Snafu” is a pounding rock song with great hooks and a driving rhythm. “Don’t Miss the Call” takes the same direction, providing another example of vivid rock music.
Overall, it’s a good thing that Gotthard released this EP, as the new songs are too good not to have been revealed. The rocking moments would have suited “Stereo Crush”, but now it is “More Stereo Crush” that proves Gotthard still know how to rock.
