Tonight, it’s all about the melodies and hooks, as Battle Beasts not only kick off their European tour, but also celebrate the release of their latest album, “Steelbound”. They are joined by Nuremberg-based Dominum and melodic metal band Majestica. Tonight’s sold-out show at Fabrik is a great beginning to the tour.
The popularity of this line-up is reflected in the long queue outside, meaning that more than a few people want to see Majestica. Inside the venue, the room is already well-crowded when the Swedes enter the stage to a big round of applause. Majestica open their set with “Power Train”, and the audience is with them right from the start. The four-piece band from Boden has released three albums, two of which provide songs for tonight’s show. It wouldn’t make much sense anyhow to play tracks from the Christmas album while the focus is on the debut. With “Night Call Girl” and “Rising Tide”, we go back to 2019, and fans of all ages are excited. Majestica’s task is to get the crowd in the right mood, and they certainly succeed tonight. Their lively set went by in a flash.

I’ve heard of Dominum, but I’ve never seen them live. Looking at the audience’s reaction, I am probably more the exception than the rule, as the German melodic band is warmly welcomed by everyone at the Fabrik. Dominum is a relatively new band, too, with a debut album released in 2023. Dr. Dead, Tommy Kemp, Victor Hilltop and Patient Zero also have a large fanbase, as evidenced by the crowd’s reaction when the band enters the stage — it’s just as euphoric as it was earlier with Majestica.
The show starts with a song from the debut album, and we can feel the temperature in the room rising. Although the zombie image is a bit amusing, I must say that the music itself doesn’t need these gimmicks. The melodies have an addictive quality, which is one reason why the band’s music is so well-received tonight. Dominum’s tunes are entertaining to listen to, and tracks like “Frankenstein” are solid melodic metal. There might be a good reason why the guys added “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by the Scorpions to tonight’s setlist, but honestly, the Dominum interpretation lacks momentum, although fans raise their fists while enjoying the classic Scorpions anthem.
After a short speech, the quartet kicks off “The Chosen One”, and there is a lot of jumping around during “Immortalis Dominum”. As band leader Felix Heldt says, the band has a task to fulfil. They need to prepare everyone for the headline act, and they accomplish this mission while having a lot of fun too.

Battle Beast has fans of all ages. There are some kids right in the front row, as well as rock fans in the audience following rock and metal since decades. Regardless of their age, fans are having fun with what the Finns are offering tonight. This is also due to the fact that Battle Beast are celebrating the release of their new album, “Steelbound”. Their seventh studio album is available today, and many of its tracks are having their live debut tonight. Nine songs from “Steelbound” are on tonight’s setlist, starting with “Here We Are”. However, the first tunes are dedicated to earlier releases, including “Straight to the Heart”, which marks the start of a 90-minute melodic power metal event.
With so many great songs, the question is why the Finns added an Elton John cover version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” to the set. This surprises me as well as some other fans during the live show.
The longer Battle Beast play, the better the vibe, and we reach metal party level. This is not only due to the music but partly due to the fan chants of “Noch ein Bier” (another beer), which is a demand to the bassist to get another beer, and it’s not just once that fans have expressed this particular wish.
Considering tonight’s show being the first of the tour, things are going rather smoothly. The powerful sound and the complete absence of technical issues make the 90-minute show an enjoyable experience. Noora Louhimo and her bandmates are happy to be playing live again, and as Noora mentions towards the end, she is very glad that this is her job, and that it is more than just a job. It’s passion and fun which resonates from each song tonight.
Fans of melodic metal and infectious hooks got their money’s worth. All three bands lived up to expectations, and with such a solid start, the tour is set to be a successful party road trip through Europe.
