It took Motorjesus a little longer than expected to get started on their newest album, “Streets of Fire”, which faced a delayed release due to technical production issues. Originally scheduled for release in June, the album is now hitting the shelves in July, and it seems that it was worth the wait.
With the tank now full of gasoline, Motorjesus have unleashed 13 new songs, all inspired by the sound of the ’80s. The music of NWoBHM bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest certainly had an impact on Motorjesus’ music, as did the raw power of bands such as Motörhead.
“Somewhere from Beyond” is the first song, and it’s a melodic hybrid of rock and metal. With a gritty sound and some Iron Maiden references, this song is a treat for headbangers. Next is the up-tempo smasher “Back for the War”, before the title track takes over. The album’s name-giver is a roaring ode to hard-rocking music, before Motorjesus shift gears and unveil the next fast-paced blast with “They Don’t Die”.

With the throbbing ‘2.Evil’, the band offers headbangers another treat on the album. Fueled by high-octane power, it is a song that maintains the quality level even towards the end of the tracklist. Tracks such as “Holy Overdrive” and the street rocker “City Heat” can easily compete with the material in the first half of the album.
In case you were wondering, there is no ballad on this album. Motorjesus didn’t include a tearjerker on “Streets of Fire” and instead focused on fist-pumping rock and metal, combining it with some infectious melodies. This applies to both “The End of the Line” and the anarchic “The Confrontation”, with its punk attitude, before the dystopian outro “See You Next Doomsday” brings the 50-minute album to a close.
Motorjesus launch with “Streets of Fire”, an energetic and street-based album that echoes the spirit of rock and the power of metal. It is a strong release that fills the room with the smell of gasoline. This rock engine is well-oiled and delivers all its power to the streets.
