Review TEASER SWEET “Night Stalker”

Teaser Sweet is a Swedish band led by Therese Damberg and her brother Marcus. The duo, together with former bassist Christoffer Cardell, started the band in 2013 and it was Kalle Krantz who completed the line-up. The guys have recorded three full length albums and one EP, which means they have been pretty productive over the past 12 years.

These releases brought the band to the attention of High Roller Records and after signing a deal, the band released a new effort called “Night Stalker”. The album contains nine excellently crafted songs that bridge hard rock and traditional heavy metal, echoing in songs like the galloping “Living in Sin”.

Before you get there, you will listen to a gentle intro that leads to the thunderous title track. Hard and heavy is the best way to describe the song. Rooted in the heavy metal of the late 70s, the song finds the sweet spot of heaviness and catchiness. Remarkable are also the vocals. Therese Damberg has a great rock’n’roll voice that can easily deal with the spirit of rock’n’roll, and it’s the melody lines that grab you right away.

Each of the songs on the album has an addictive factor woven into it, which also goes for the pounding “Deep in the Woods”. Gentle and with a bluesy vibe that is “Blue Sky”. The song isn’t a ballad, but it’s the most moving moment on the album while the roaring sound of heavy metal peaks with “Eat You Alive”, showcasing a band that pushes the pedal to the metal. It doesn’t really matter which song you listen to as they are all great and it is the sinister and dark “Killer Machine” that unveils another twist without compromising the basic foundation of Teaser Sweet’s sound.

“Night Stalker” is an excellent album. Each of the songs is great on its own, and the totality of all the pieces deliver an even more positive overall experience. Listening to these songs is pure fun as the band delivers music that comes straight from the heart. “Night Stalker” contains authentic and well-crafted songs with a timeless factor. Good job guys.
