Review ACT OF CREATION “Moments to Remain”

The German melodic death metal outfit Act Of Creation made their debut in 2010 with “Secret Memories of a Forced Fate”, and it didn’t take long for them to unveil their sophomore album.

With ‘Moments to Remain’, the latest album is now ready for delivery this summer. The band’s latest effort contains nine songs plus three bonus tracks, depending on the format.

There is no doubt that the guys have heard of bands like Arch Enemy. Too much inspiration from the melodic death metal icons shines through, which isn’t only due to the vocals of singer Jessica Nicole Kork. The melodic leads and the way the songs are structured sometimes remind you of Scandinavian Metal Force, which isn’t a bad thing per se.

In the case of Act Of Creation, the influence of the Gothenburg sound is rather present, with the effect that the band shows few trademarks of their own. Act Of Creation have recorded some good songs though and the album is certainly a good way to spend some time with. At the same time there is not much new to discover and what comes out of the speakers sounds like you have heard this kind of music more than once.

That the band has some potential goes without saying, but Act Of Creation should focus more on creation and with the development of their own trademark an interesting future could sit ahead.
