Review INSANITY ALERT “Moshemian Thrashody” (EP)

When it comes to the greater Innsbruck area in Austria, ‘rock’ doesn’t just mean mountains and more. The capital of Tyrol also has a pretty solid rock and metal scene, with quite a few bands playing shows there.

Local bands are also active and one of them is Insanity Alert. With furious alpine power the thrash/crossover maniacs will release a new EP called “Moshemian Thrashody” and the cryptic title makes sense when you look deeper into the intention of this release.

The Tyrolean quintet have recorded four songs for this release, all based on all-time classics. In a way you could call them parodies of songs from Guns’n’Roses, Iron Maiden and Queen. The fourth relates to pop, as the boys give George Michaels’ “Careless Whispers” a humorous metallic kick.

The first song on the EP is “Welcome to the Moshpit”, which of course is based on “Welcome to the Jungle”. Equipped with new lyrics and some thrash metal power, the song gets a new dynamic.

Beer is an important element of this EP and is also the main theme of “Beer in the Park”. No one needs to be afraid of the dark again, as “Beer in the Park” gives the Iron Maiden classic a new perspective.

“Moshamian Thrashody” comes with the same twinkle in the eye, and if you like fun, the “Bohamian Rhapsody” adaptation, is great entertainment, and it is the upbeat metal version of “Careless Whispers” called “Beerless Fiesta” that follows the same pattern.

Insanity Alert’s new EP is fun and the right soundtrack for a beer-soaked party environment. Listening to these songs is all about having fun, and that’s what counts.
