Australian hard rock powerhouse Mammoth Mammoth release today their first live album. After having launched five full-length longplayers the four-piece unveils ‘Volume VI: Warts n’ All’ and shows the band at their best.
Mammoth Mammoth release great records but seeing the guys live on stage is another experience of live shows. I can remember having seen the band back in 2013 at Baroeg in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and it was one of the most impressive moments I could witness. I guess there were a max. of 30 people present but the Australians performed as if the entire show would have been sold out. Such an effort comes from the heart and the passion for music.
It’s impossible to capture such a sweaty live show in a beer-soaked club on an album. However, ‘Warts n’ All’ reflects the spirit of a Mammoth Mammoth show in good fashion and it is fun to listen to it. Going back to the first EP with songs like ‘Another Drink’ and ‘Let’s Roll’ mirrors the brilliance of the early days that is fully in synch with the newer material like ‘Mount the Mountain’ and ‘Epitome’. Last but not least the bands also recorded a homage to Kiss while placing a raw and untamed version of ‘Love Gun’ at the end of the tracklist.
‘Warts n’All’ is a dirty and down-to-earth live album with a sound that is 100% authentic. As said, it is impossible to capture the energy of a Mammoth Mammoth live show but the album gives a good idea of what to expect when purchasing a ticket to see them live.
By the way, the album has been released today via Golden Robot Records on all major streaming platforms while a double vinyl version is announced for early 2024.
