Review WIG WAM ‘Out of the Dark’

That glam rock is not only made in America has been shown by Wig Wam from Norway for a few years now. The country, which is rather rooted in black metal, has with the colorful outfit from Halden a supplier of good mood music already since many years.

With ‘Out of the Dark’ the five Norwegians now place their sixth album in the record stores and do not change the basic direction of their sound. Even if the title track has a somewhat dark middle section, the catchy melodies are what make each of the eleven pieces immediately creep into the ears of the worthy listener.

While the moderately paced ‘Forevermore’ reveals hymn-like character piece by piece, it is ‘Ghosting You’ and the throbbing ‘Sailor and the Desert Sun’ that are built on pure rock’n’roll power.

With ‘The American Dream’ and ‘God by Your Side’ the longplayer also has some average songs to report. However, a positive overall impression prevails, which is among other things due to the very well done ‘Bad Luck Chuck’. If you listen to this song, you could almost think that the Sunset Strip is in the south of Norway.

Wig Wam do what they do best. Melodic hard rock is what rules on ‘Out of the Dark’ and since it is presented quite vital and lively, the album can be easily listened to from start to finish.
