Review ZEKE SKY ‘Intergalactic Demon King’

Zeke Sky is a muscleman and if you do not know the multi-instrumentalist, then you expect rather rough and grooving riffs. Well, the songs of the guitarist are powerful, but if you know that Sky has already opened for bands like Kings X, then you get a first feel for the music of the American.

Zeke Sky’s musical direction is a mix of psychedelic rock and traditional metal with progressive elements. Thereby things may go wild like in ‘Light the Sky’. Also the throbbing and more modern ‘Level the Heights’ is worth mentioning. The song is a wild ride with symphonic elements, which is properly blasting and is equipped with a more than well-done’ chorus.

Light in the Hollow’ is fast and aggressive, but even in this song Zeke repeatedly adds melodic moments. Atmospheric, that’s how ‘Faith and Sorrow’ can be described, followed by the rather catchy ‘Endlessly Forever’. In addition, Zeke constantly builds in melodic solo parts, as in ‘Intergalactic Demon King’, but also shows his shredding skills.

By the way, ‘Intergalactic Demon King’ is also the title of the debut album, on which eleven songs can be found. Zeke Sky is certainly a new talent because the guitarist gives metal a modern and varied touch without renouncing to an aggressive basic interpretation. Wildness with style and competence, that’s how I would describe the tracks on this debut album; a record worth listening to.
