Review MOONSPELL ‘From Down Below – Live 80 Meters Deep’

Portugal’s most famous metal band, Moonspell, played a more than extraordinary show in their homeland on May 7th last year. The setting was the Grutas de Mira D’Aire, one of seven natural wonders in Portugal and Moonspell used this unusual performance to promote the new ‘Hermitage’ album at that time.

Since the pandemic severely limited the possibilities of a live performance, and Moonspell not wanting to tackle just a ‘normal’ livestream, the masters of dark metal decided to enter the depths of planet Earth.
It is not surprising that the band recorded this unique event, which will be released at the end of September as ‘From Down Below – Live 80 Meters Deep’. Moonspell presented the entire ‘Hermitage’ album in front of a handful of daring fans and that a cave offers a very special sound experience is beyond question. Moreover, a unique scenery opens up to the viewer, which fits extremely well to the dark and melancholic sound of the Portuguese.

‘From Down Below – Live 80 Meters Deep’ both as a CD and even more in DVD format presents an impressive work which under normal circumstances would most likely not have come to live. Here you literally deal with underground metal.
