Review ORIANTHI ‘Live From Hollywood’

Orianthi is certainly no stranger to the rock and metal genre. The Australian guitarist has performed on stage with the legendary Santana and Alice Cooper, which says a lot about the quality of her guitar playing.

Besides all these impressive engagements, the guitarist managed to release solo albums on a constant base, of which ‘O’ was released in 2020. Accordingly, it is not surprising that ‘O’ is the focus of a concert Orianthi gave in January 8th, 2022 at The Bourbon Room in Los Angeles, CA. The concert was recorded and is now available as a live album under as ‘Live From Hollywood’.

It is noticeable that the live album, with eleven songs, does not include the entire setlist of this evening in Hollywood. A total of 17 tracks were performed, eleven of which make it onto this live release. This may have good reasons, but it also has an impact on the feeling of being part of the live performance. Rather, it is a summary of a concert with highlight, which certainly act as such.

There is no question that tracks like ‘You Don’t Wanna Know’, ‘Contagious’ and the emotional ‘How Do You Sleep?” are standout songs that both benefit from Orianthi’s guitar performance and work very well as a song.

‘Live From Hollywood’ is more of a live compilation and not really a traditional live album. Still, the mood in parts is captured well, songs are unique and the sound doesn’t leave much to be wished for. If you are looking for that, you will be delighted by this album.
