One could have the idea that Swedish Thundermother are always on tour and one of the worst things you can do to the girls is to stop live concerts. Now, Covid-19 did exactly that and Thundermother had to move the tourbus to the garage for a pause. Not being on tour does not mean for the girls though to sit still and wait for better times. The quartet used the break to record new songs, which will be released on their fourth album ‘Heat Wave’..
What title could be chosen better for the upcoming summer than ‘Heat Wave’. And the title can be interpreted wider than just meteorologically. ‘Heat Wave’ is certainly hot and the 13 songs fire up the fans very nicely.
Musically the four girls from Växjö ignite one rock’n’roll rocket after the other. ‘Dog From Hell’, the groovy title track and the fiery ‘Mexico’ are definitely songs that turn every summer party into a full scale rock event.
Another one of these songs is ‘Back in ’76’, which by the choice of the title, already clearly indicates what to expect. The more emotional moments are represented on the CD by ‘Sleep’ as well as their preference for ‘Bad Habbits’, the stellar closer.
Even though Thundermother can’t make the stages and festivals of Europe at the moment they keep the fans entertained with excellent new songs and hell would have to freeze over if the upcoming live shows (whenever they are) will not turn every venue into a madhouse.
