CD review EXHUMED & GRUESOME ‘Twisted Horror’

Exhumed and Gruesome have teamed up with Relapse Records to release a new split CD. ‘Twisted Horror’ is the name of the release and includes three new Exhumed songs plus two musical bone crushers by Gruesome.

As not expected differently Exhumed push the pedal to the metal. Deep growls, skull splitting riffs and an overall high tempo runs like a leitmotiv through these songs. The one or other well-placed tempo change, like on ‘Rot Your Brain’, is always welcome too and make the whole album varied without loosing its brutality.

Gruesome, on the other hand, continues their homage to Death and they do it with ‘A Mind Decayed’ and ‘Led Into the Dark’, two great songs. Tempo and groove don’t fall short with Gruesome and the level of aggression is also to the point. Death metal with a per excellence by Gruesome, as not expected different. These songs are headbnaging invitations.

If you are looking for 20 minutes of brute death metal with a slightly different vibe and expression, ‘Twisted Horror’ is highly recommended.
