CD review NARNIA ‘From Darkness to Light

(8/10) Narnia is the brainchild of Christian Liljegren and Carl Johan Grimmark who met in 1993 and after having seen a common musical vision Narnia was founded. ‘Awakening’ was the debut of the band with a release date in 1998.

The first era of Narnia ended in 2010 when the band official announced their end. As with other things in life too, not every end is an end and it was in 2014 when Narnia re-grouped and returned. The self-titled longplayer ‘Narnia’ was the first release in the band’s second era and now it’s up to ‘From Darkness to Light’ to pick it up where the band left off with the previous offer.

To mention it right away, the new longplayer is a really good one. Narnia has this brilliant sense for great melodies of which the album is full of. Songs like the anthemic ‘Has the River Run Dry?’ are catchy but also well rocking all with soundscapes that are a teat for fans of Melodic Metal. Furthermor it’s vocals and guitar being the foundation of e.g. ‘The Armor of God’, an uptempo rocker with keyboards emphasising the melody and adding density to the total.

‘From Darkness to Light’ is a well-executed Melodic Metal album that puts a spell on you right away. Good stuff for your ears.
