If you only look at the tracklist of 'Night Parade of One Hundred Demons' you might think that this is an EP. Three songs are not a long list. However, if you discover that this is an Earthless release, the thought of an EP disappears and indeed, 'Night Parade of One Hundred Demons' is a... Continue Reading →
Review KADAVER/ELDER ‘ELDOVAR – A Story of Darkness & Light’
The pandemic and its consequences bring a number of, mostly unpleasant, side effects. But sometimes this exceptional situation awakens a new perspective and creativity. Berlin's Kadaver have already made their mark by coming up with 'The Isolation Tapes' relatively quickly. This time, however, Kadaver is not doing it all alone. They have teamed up with... Review KING BUFFALO ‘Acheron’
It's only been a few months that King Buffalo released 'The Burden of Relentlessness'. This album was the beginning of a three album cycle that now continues with 'Acheron'. The idea for this album series came at the beginning of the pandemic and in a way documents the mental effects of it. While at the... Continue Reading →

Review JESS AND THE ANCIENT ONES ‘Vertigo’
Jess And The Ancient Ones are an exciting band. The Finns, hailing from Kuopio, started in 2010 and released three longplayers to date. Jess, Thomas Corpse, Fast Jake, Yussuf and Abraham, that’s the line-up that worked on the next release, an album called Vertigo’. The new longplayer is the carrier of eight new songs of... Earthless fans know about it, some others might have heard about it and now it's manifested by a live alive album. CD review DEWOLFF ‘Wolffpack’
Not being on tour means more time to work on new song ideas. Holland's flagship rockers DeWolff made use of this option after the trio had to end their at the time ongoing 'Tascam Tapes' tour due to COVOID. After the first disappointment vanished, the decision of not sitting still and waiting ripened quickly. Pablo... Continue Reading →
CD review MOLASSESS ‘Through the Hollow’
One thing right away, Molassess isn't The Devil's Blood 2.0 although involved musicians could lead to a different conclusion. Farida Lemouchi, Ron van Herpen and Oeds Beydals have been all part of The Devil's Blood and searching for comparisons between the bands could be natural thing. However, already the concert at Roadburn 2019 showed the... Continue Reading →
GAUPA, exciting music from Sweden
The other day an album crossed my path that might has been a bit under-represented this year. The moniker of the band is Gaupa and the guys are from Sweden, from Falun to be precise. Gaupa is a quintet, consisting of Erik Jerka-Sävstroem (b), Jimmy Hurtig (d), Danial Nygren (g), David Rosberg (g) and Emma... Continue Reading →

THE NEPTUNE POWER FEDERATION – a band on the upswing
It is almost impossible to have an overview of all bands and releases these days and sometimes it is also a coincidence that draws your attention to a certain band. In this case it is The Neptume Power Federation and their second album that came to me in such an unusual fashion. It was a... Continue Reading →
CD review HEXVESSEL ‘Kindred’
Hexvessel sketches pictures with their songs. Bigger soundscapes like in 'Phaedra' are musical storytelling that demands focus an attention from the listener. 'Kindred' isn't an album that supplies easy-listening music. It's an enormous depth and songwriting skills that demand focus and attention. If you want to take a break from reality, it's 'Kindred' and earphones that allows you to go on a trip through musical magic forest with songs being the trees and notes being the leaves.
