DEEP PURPLE – new album “SPLAT!” in July

Deep Purple will release their new studio album, “SPLAT!”, on July 3 via earMUSIC. Pre-orders begin today.

Since their formation in 1968, Deep Purple have sold more than 120 million albums and have long since secured a permanent place in rock history. Instead of resting on their legacy, Deep Purple are determined to carry it forward, driven by the same spirit that defined their early albums.

Frontman Ian Gillan: “The current incarnation of Deep Purple feels very much like a modern-day version of Deep Purple from the 1970s.”

Once again, the band has teamed up with renowned producer Bob Ezrin (KISS, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Alice Cooper). Together, they have created an album that captures precisely the sound and attitude that have made Deep Purple unmistakable for decades.

With “SPLAT!”, the band presents its hardest-hitting album in many years, recorded together in the studio, as has always been the Deep Purple way. Ian Gillan: “I have to say: We’re now back to material that’s in the same vein as ‘Highway Star,’ ‘Smoke on the Water,’ and ‘Lazy’—with the dynamism, balance, and fun that defined our music from 1969 to 1973.”

At the heart of “SPLAT!” stands an idea conceived by Ian Gillan: the end is not seen as destruction, but as transformation. “SPLAT!” explores the end of humanity not as a crude apocalypse, but as a metamorphosis beyond physical existence.
