Review FROZEN SOUL “No Place of Warmth”

In early 2026, Frozen Soul embarked on a European tour as the supporting act for Heaven Shall Burn. The tour actually came a little too early for the new album, but the band offered a sneak preview of what to expect from their latest studio effort, “No Place of Warmth”.

Following the release of four lead singles, the album will arrive in May, bringing a freezing death metal storm to the European spring. With “No Place of Warmth”, Frozen Soul deliver their third studio album, and it is a great one. They already fascinated fans during the live shows, and the new album builds on this positive impression.

The opener, which is the title track, starts with an eerie intro. “No Place of Warmth” is a moderately paced, heavily pounding death metal track that hits all the right notes. Combined with the subtle melody, the song becomes even heavier, with the contrast strengthening the effect.

Next is “Invoke War” featuring none other than Machine Head. Listening to the brutal riff, it’s no surprise that a band like Machine Head is part of this slowly creeping riff assault. ‘Massive’ is the right word to describe the songs, and it actually gives an idea of what the entire album is like.

“No Place of Warmth” is an intense and brutal death metal masterpiece. These songs have steamroller power and will run you over. There is the blisteringly fast “Absolute Zero” which runs for less than two minutes before handing over to “Dreadnought”. The latter features Sanguisugabogg, which describes the heaviness of the next death metal monolith on the album.

Frozen Soul generate heaviness mainly through slower, grooving riffs, while the fast moments are cleverly integrated breaks that add to the flow of the songs and the album as a whole. “Chaos Will Reign” is one such moment, and the same goes for the following “Eyes of Despair”.

A sinister groove provides the foundation for “DREAMWEAVER”, which blasts out of the speakers with immense intensity. The final two songs of the album are no less ferocious. “Frost Forged” and “Killin’ Time (Until It’s Time to Kill)” are the final chapters of an album that hits you like a sonic punch in the face.

Frozen Soul are one of the most exciting newcomers to the death metal scene. While their brutal sound, massive riff assault and blood-curdling growls might not be new, the intensity is massive. It is often said that the third album is a make-or-break moment, and having listened to “No Place of Warmth” several times, I can say that this band will make it, as their sound makes hell freeze over.
