Review SWEATMASTER “More!”

Fans of the Finnish rock band Sweatmaster may be looking for new material, and their wish has been heard. After launching the 2010 album “Dig Up the Knife,” there was radio silence from the trio. Sweatmaster went on hiatus, which ended a few years ago with live shows. As is often the case, the shows sparked creativity and a positive vibe, leading to new songs and a new record.

The band’s newest album, “More!,” features 14 songs. The first impression was made by a song called “Destroyer,” the album’s lead single. This captivating tune exemplifies the essence of garage rock with its energizing beat. Driven by a strong bassline, raw vocals, and plenty of guitar power, “Destroyer” unfolds its captivating character.

Some punk vibes resonate through “Police Bastard,” an up-tempo smasher followed by the grooving title track and the hypnotic spirit of “Hole in the Ground” with its gloomy ambiance.

These songs demonstrate a broader musical approach, resulting in an album rooted in garage rock that also explores a wider range of genres. The peppy “Spring That Never Ends” and the thumping “Sad Song Man” demonstrate the album’s versatility. The roaring sound of “Chevy Van” brings stoner rock to the forefront, followed by the infectious beat of “Tail Down.”

“More!” captures the essence of garage rock. With an excellent sound far from overproduction, the album unveils the magic of garage rock. Raw and untamed, each song reflects a rebellious spirit and bursts with energy from start to finish. “More!” is more Sweatmaster, and fans will love it.
