Review SLASH “LIve at the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival”

Slash has released a new live album showcasing his love for blues. The iconic guitarist performed at the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. festival in Colorado on 17 July 2024. The show was recorded and is now available in various formats. Slash and his band, Slash’s Blues Ball, performed fifteen classic rock and blues songs.

These include “Parchman Farm Blues” (Bukka White), “Killing Floor” (Howlin’ Wolf), “Born Under a Bad Sign” (Booker T. & the M.G.’s), “Oh Well” (Fleetwood Mac) and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” (The Undisputed Truth).

Slash’s “Live at the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival” is a stunning homage to some of the greatest blues artists and their timeless masterpieces. Slash stays close to the originals while also putting his own stamp on each song and incorporating some more jam-like moments, exemplified by the eleven-minute rendition of the Jimi Hendrix classic “Stone Free”.

Alongside these rock and blues highlights, the album also features a new Slash song. “Metal Chestnut” is a blues-soaked instrumental that fits perfectly into the context of the album, showcasing an artist who lets the guitar do the talking.
