Review ROKETS “Bad Choices”

Listening to “Bad Choices” is actually a good choice and fans of bands like The Hellacopters and D-A-D. should have this Finnish group on their radar. The name of this band – Rokets.

Rokets started in 2017 and rather quickly gained some attention in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The first EP was called “Speed & Sound”, which actually describes the quintet’s sound quite well. Rokets deliver energetic heavy rock that is inspired by the aforementioned The Hellacopters, but also Motörhead is a band that has influenced the music of the Finns.

“Bad Choices” is the title of Rokets’ latest release which delivers a 30 minute rock and roll blast. Listening to these high-octane rock songs is like going through an adrenaline rush that starts with the title track. The opener is a powerful start to the album with blazing guitars and a hard-hitting rhythm section. There isn’t much of a layered approach to these songs. It is the raw power of rock music that resonates in each of the nine songs. “Overdrive” with its grooving bass and the following “Louisa” show the heavy roots of the band and are caffeine-like energizers. These songs inhale the essence of hard rock music and the fact that there is a more moderate song on the album with “White Raven” just completes the positive impression of “Bad Choices”.

“Bad Choices” is not an overly long record and 30 minutes is not the standard these days. However, each of the nine songs on the album is a raw gem, including the up-tempo “Wheels to Kill” as well as the hard-hitting rocker “Diamonds and Dust”.

“Bad Choices” is a great hard rock album. These nine songs will pump pure adrenaline into your body and whether you have had a bad day or are having trouble getting out of bed, these nine songs are what you need to have a great time. All you have to do is ignite the fireworks by hitting the Start-button. “Bad Choice” – a really good choice.
