Metalcore heavyweights Bury Tomorrow have announced a new album, and now we’re getting closer to the release date. “Will You Haunt Me, With the Same Patience” is the title of the new effort, which features eleven new tracks. Two years after the release of “The Seventh Sun”, Bury Tomorrow will continue their metalcore efforts with their eighth studio album.
The six-piece from Southampton formed in 2006 and quickly became a major player in the metalcore scene. Their third album already made it into the UK charts and success in other countries followed. With “Will You Haunt Me, With the Same Patience” the guys want to continue the triumph of the previous releases and stick to their formula of success.
“Villian Arc” was the first song that was presented from the latest work. Starting with an eerie voice sample, the song is a slamming piece of music with an aggressive outburst. It’s a furious song that doesn’t rely too much on melodic clean vocals. It’s more of a wrecking ball approach to the song. It’s a slap in the face that was followed by “What If I Burn”. Compared to the raging lead single, “What If I Burn” reflects the more melodic aspect of Bury Tomorrow’s music. The clean vocals in the melodic chorus interact with Daniel Winter-Bates’ growls, showing the band’s ability to combine these two musical poles with ease.
“To Dream to Forget” is the name of the opener, which starts off rather atmospheric before turning into a wild metalcore track with enough catchiness to appeal to a wider audience. It is the trendsetter for the album and reflects the typical signature sound of the band. An up-tempo and rather catchy tune is “Forever the Night” with a higher percentage of metal than core. It’s a metal party and there’s not much of a wait before “Waiting” unleashes its brutal riff power.
“Will You Haunt Me, With the Same Patience” is an emotionally intense album that brings all kinds of feelings to the fore. There is despair and paralyzing fear as well as hope for peace and clarity in a world driven by constant change and anonymity.
The most peaceful moment on the album is “Found No Throne”. It’s a quiet and acoustic song. Combined with a very atmospheric vibe, the song is a retreat after the first seven blasts of the album and connects emotionally to the other songs.
And on we go with “Yōkai (妖怪)” which is another frantic moment on the album with furious screams and growls from Daniel Winter-Bates. The song is one of the most energetic ones on the album and leads you to “Let Go,” which brings more of the clean vocals back to the surface. Just looking at the last three songs mentioned, we can see the range of sounds we get from Bury Tomorrow.
Last but not least there is “Paradox” which is the conclusion of the album. It’s a throbbing song and a cinematic finale that once again shows the band’s trademarks.
“Will You Haunt Me, With the Same Patience” is the highly awaited next Bury Tomorrow album, and it fully lives up to expectations. There aren’t too many new twists as the band fine-tunes their musical formula, leading to songs that are emotionally intense and musically a treat for fans of the British band. It’s a marriage of aggression and harmony that we are listening to, and that’s the core of the album’s excitement.
